Months ago my mom randomly found this cream when she ran out of the one she was using and needed a new one. For some reason she couldn't find the one she wanted and ended up picking this one. We were not familiar with this product or even the brand yet, we both started using it.
It is the "Del Indio Papago" Tepezcohuite Face and Body Night Cream. It is one of those things you find by accident and end up being pretty good.
Let's start with... what is tepezcohuite? I had to do some research here because I had no idea~ Tepezcohuite is a tree that grows in Mexico, specifically in Oaxaca and Chiapas, and apparently it has properties to heal the skin. It is also known as "the tree of the skin."
It can be used on skin lesions, you can apply it on burnt skin for relief, it is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, healing, regenerative and even works as an insect repellent, hehe.
It has hydrating, firming and anti-aging properties. It softens the skin and helps to fade blemishes and dark spots on the skin. It also claims to help with oil control and sebum and regulate the skin, so it's perfect for oily to combination skin. It contains collagen and vitamin E.
So, even tho it is not super attractive to the eye, it is a product worth trying.
There is no much to say about the presentation. It is a simple brownish plastic pot with a sticker full of info. The cream itself has a light brown color too with very small pearls that, apparently, are bits of the tree bark.
It does have a strong scent but it's not a bad one. It just smells like "old fashion" cream! It is a night cream so, it is a bit thick but it absorbs nicely. Some people use it as a mask but personally, I've been using it as my night cream. The tree bark peieces kinda disappear as you massage your skin with the cream. Dunno how that happens...
In my experience using this cream for a few months now, I can say it really works well. There was a time where my skin was in a very ugly condition with bad acne. I kinda blamed it on my stress and having to constantly wear a mask. (anyone else has/had this problem?) And after constantly using it, along with my skin care routine, my skin improved a lot. I wouldn't say it's perfect but, it looks a lot better.
My skin accepted it pretty well, and even my mom liked it.
Price wise it is super cheap! It's around $35MX in Farmacias Guadalajara. I noticed that it can be a lot more expensive online. There's also a day cream that I haven't tried and other products that I'm sure can be as good as this one.
I like it when you find these kind of unexpected surprises in products you discover by accident.
