Rouge Bunny Rouge Original Skin Blush in 'Habanera' (038)

Welcome my first trial of the fast becoming famous Rouge Bunny Rouge Original Skin Blush!  This is one of three blushes I purchased from the range back in April - highly recommended by one of my lovely readers who says it's her absolute all-time favourite blush!  (Thanks Anna!)  So, of course, who could say no to that.  I have yet to try my other two RBR blush purchases in 'Florita' and 'Orpheline'.  I'm really looking forward to those. ^_^

Packaging
The outer box packaging which is quite cute and whimsical - typical of Rouge Bunny Rouge's theme.
The blush compact in black lacquer - lightweight and compact in size.  Great for the handbag and travelling with.  Overall, it's a fairly simple design and feels of reasonable quality.
The compact comes with a mirror - handy for on-the-go application and touch-ups (not that you would need any because the colour would last the entire day without fading!).
The product label and description at the bottom of the compact.
The flowers that appear on top of the compact lid are also imprinted onto the powder as well, which is quite cute. :)

Colour
Rouge Bunny Rouge Original Skin Blush in 'Habanera' is fairly accurately described as a "medium, sun-warmed terracotta with a hint of rose - Great for any medium complexion". On my medium/tan olive skin tone (~NC30-35), it reveals a fairly soft, natural, neutral shade with just the slightest hint of warmth and rose colour. The colour pay-off is excellent and easily buildable. To be honest, I'm more partial to brighter shades for blushes like cool pinks, etc, but only because I find it suits my skin tone better. I personally, just need that pop of (i.e., usually contrasting) colour to liven it up otherwise my skin can look quite dull and sallow.  However, I think 'Habanera' will be a great colour either underneath the cheek bones or on the cheeks paired with a smokey or dramatic eye for the evenings with a nude lip.  Alternatively, combine it with loads of black mascara, a simple black cat eye line, and my favourite red lipstick.  Et voila!  Beautiful! ^_^

Swatches
Against medium-to-light tan olive skin tone (~NC30). Photographs were taken indoors using a strobe.

Comparison Swatches
L - R: Rouge Bunny Rouge's Habanera (warm, terracotta with slight rose hue) and Nars Douceur (soft pink/mauve neutral brown).
L - R: Nars Douceur, Mac Mocha (soft matte, plum-pink), Rouge Bunny Rouge Habanera, and Nars Dolce Vita (matte, dusty rose).

Finish and Texture
'Habanera' has a slight satin finish - it looks very natural on the skin.  The texture is probably the silkiest, smoothest and finest I've come across thus far in terms of blushes if not all powder products.  Again, I note that the powder is made in Italy.  Some of my readers will know how I go on about the exceptional powders (such as those from Burberry, some powders from Chanel) I've tried happen to be made there - possibly even from the same factory - who knows.  This RBR blush powder has indeed, an amazing texture.  It's so smooth and fine that once blended, you can't see the powder sitting on your skin.  It just melds effortlessly and seamlessly!

Longevity
I suspect the finely milled, silky smooth texture also helps increase the lasting power of the blush on the skin as it adheres better.  I have normal to combination skin and I find that this blush lasts from the moment I put it on in the morning to the time I take it off before bed time.  I did not notice any fading over time.  (Of course, it helps if you don't have a habit of touching your face throughout the day - sometimes I like to rest my cheek on my hand and find that the makeup hasn't lasted as long on that side of my face!  Hehe... ;-) )

Scent
For those with sensitive noses like mine, you'll be pleased to know there is no noticeable scent with this blush. :)

Availability
I purchased mine from Zuneta, which ship internationally.

Size
3.5 g / 0.123 oz.

Final Verdict
If you're a lover of neutral, earthy cheek colours with fair to medium/light tan skin tone then 'Habanera' is worth checking out.  You can wear it on the cheeks or under the cheek bones to contour.  Otherwise, check out the other shades available in the Rouge Bunny Rouge Original Skin Blush range, because the texture alone is incredible, not to mention the way it lasts the whole day without fading on me.  Highly recommend. ^_^

Hope this helps!

Thanks for visiting. ^_^ xo
